Pungle verb - to make a payment or contribution with money.
This man right here, he’s Ben Andrews. He’s 30 years old and a Co-Founder of a new website called Pungle. It’s a strange name, but by the end of these four minutes (2 minutes and 33 seconds for me … beat that!), you won’t be able to get it out of your head.
Pungle.org was created for you, the consumer, as a free way (without registration) to organize your favorite online storefronts seamlessly. Not to mention the spankin’ new site looks very reminiscent of my favorite game, Super Mario Bros. Don’t worry, I’ll wait right here while you go check it out. While you’re distracted, make sure you follow them on Facebook too. They spend a ton of time there and have way more information for you than I do.
You might be asking yourself why you need a website to show you your stores instead of a bookmark on your toolbar or in a folder. Glad you asked! Pungle allows you to keep your favorite stores up at the top of the page in a sweet little box, organized in your preferred order. You bookmark Pungle, and you delete the rest of the clutter you’ve saved up over the years in your bookmarks folder. On top of that sweet little concept, Pungle puts a star next to your favorite stores when there’s a promo code or deal so you know exactly where and how to save money.
But wait! There’s more!
The underlying purpose of Pungle, in their own words, “We want to help change the world.” How you ask? “By supporting some of the best charities in the world. We are only limited by the size of our tribe.” (The Pungle Tribe, because community is boring and overused.) When you click through to Amazon, everything looks normal. If you click through to Best Buy, iTunes or even Groupon, you still shop like normal. You search like normal. It’s all the same. Except for this one cool part: When you make a purchase, part of your purchase goes towards your selected charity. Easy enough? You shop, they donate! While Pungle encourages you to use their free site to do your shopping (and in turn supporting some great charities), they also hope that you will continue to give to the organizations you support on a regular basis. “More Giving = More Awesome!”
Pungle currently supports 6 core charities, and features 1 new charity each month. The plan is to add more charities in the future, however, at this point the giving power is far greater with a more concentrated batch of groups to support. The current list of charities are:
Charity: Water, Susan G. Komen for the cure, The Michael J. Fox Foundation, UNICEF, Conservation International, American Red Cross, and the featured charity is the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation
So there you have it. The power is in your hands. Get off your holiday-lovin’ buns and get some last minute Christmas shopping done! Start off right at www.Pungle.org and bookmark it while you’re there so you can help out all year long.
… And that’s Ben Andrews’ Four Minute Story.
